BONELLO. On December 10, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANNA, née Rutter Giappone, aged 61 years, wife of Notary Mario Rosario, went peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church and surrounded by her loving family. She will be very sadly missed by her beloved husband and daughter Krista, her mother Rose Rutter Giappone, her brother Anthony Rutter Giappone and his wife Anne, her mother-in-law Phyllis Bonello, her brother-in-law Natalino Bonello and his wife Lietje, her nephew and nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly. Christ, sweet Jesus, grant her eternal rest.

FONK. On December 9, at Mater Dei Hospital, JOHN, aged 85, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his wife Mary Rose, née Preca Trapani, his daughter Monica Grech Fonk and her husband Joseph Grech, his granddaughter Dr Lorna Grech Fonk, his son Eric Fonk, his dear close friends Yvonne and Joseph Riley, other family members and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2pm for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. GALEA. On December 11, at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Centre, TARCISIO of Valletta (formerly of Fontana Kiosk, City Gate), aged 89, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Rose, his only son Emanuel and his wife Marcon, his granddaughters Emma and Martina, his brother Emanuel and sister Lorenza, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Rehabilitation Centre today at 1.30pm for Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish church, Fleur-de-Lys, Birkirkara, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but don-ations to charitable institutions will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

GRECH. On December 4, at Mater Dei Hospital, Dr JOSEPH GRECH, aged 89, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Monique, his dearly loved children Natalie and her husband Bevis, Michel and his wife Laura, and Gérard and his wife Sarah, his grandchildren Isabelle, Sébastien, Juliette and Olivia, his brothers and sisters and their families and his friends in Gozo, Malta and abroad. Mass præsente cadavere will be said at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and St Gregory the Great parish church, Kerċem, Gozo, on Saturday, December 14 at 4.30pm, followed by interment at Santa Marija Cemetery, Victoria. TONNA. On December 10, at Casa Antonia, Balzan, ALICE, of Sliema, aged 93, passed away peacefully. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband Antoine, her children Marika and her husband David Warrington and Adrian and his wife Maria, her grandchildren Matthew and his wife Adriana, Andrew and his girlfriend Bernadette, Nicky and his wife Francesca, and Rebecca, her nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Antonia, on Saturday, December 14 at 9am for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be celebrated at 9.30am, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Christmas bus times

There will be fewer buses over the festive period, with Arriva announcing revised time-tables agreed upon with Transport Malta.

The Saturday timetable will be used on December 23, 24, 27, 28, 30 and 31, with night buses running only on December 24, 27, 28 and 31.

December 22, 26 and 29 will see the Sunday service running.

On Christmas Day and New Year’s Day the network will operate on the Sunday timetable, with a break between 11am and noon and 3pm and 4pm. All buses on these days will stop at 9pm.

Power cuts

Due to scheduled maintenance works on the electricity grid there will be power cuts as follows tomorrow:

Between 7am and 1pm in Industrija, Mitħna, Kummerċ and Kanun streets, Qormi.

Prayer meeting

A prayer meeting for the sanctification of priests and for priestly and religious vocations will be held on Saturday at the Żurrieq parish church. It starts at 9pm with Mass followed by adoration.
