The European Parliament yesterday narrowly voted in favour of a resolution proposing that policies on sexual and reproductive health and on sex education in schools should fall within the competence of member states.

The resolution was adopted with 334 votes in favour to 327 against. This result removes from the EP agenda a vote on a report recommending that high-quality abortion services should be made legal to all within the public health systems of the member states.
