The Palace Hotel in Sliema has unveiled its fifth designer suite. The Flavour Suite’s design harks back to the 1950s and 1960s American diners’ era.

AX hospitality director Claire Zammit Xuereb, together with a friend, Karl Mallia, restored old furniture and used it tastefully to create the ambience they were after.

After her husband tragically passed away, Ms Zammit Xuereb put her heart and soul into the project. “I chose the lotus, being one of the most beautiful flowers, yet among the strongest that grows on dirt. Just like the lotus, people can aspire to be strong and colourful despite what they’ve been through,” she said.

“Old furniture can be revived and turned into artistic installations. I believe this objective has been achieved and we now have one of the most exclusive and originally designed suites that takes you back in time.”

Marked by shades of pastel blue and lime, the suite evokes a powerful yet comfortable space. Being the Flavour Suite, the main focus is on the bar, where the flavours come from, thus also making the suite an ideal venue to host small, private events with a twist.

A number of classic Coca-Cola memorabilia were incorporated in the suite’s design to match its retro theme.

The Flavour Suite forms part of six designer suites, each having a theme, namely: View, Light, Flavour, Texture and Music. The Fragrance suite will be launched next year.
