As many as 70 earthquakes shook the central and eastern Mediterranean last month. Some of these earthquakes occurred inland in countries such as Italy, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Greece and Turkey, whereas others took place offshore beneath the sea close to Crete and Cyprus. Most of the quakes ranged between 3.5 and five, so they would have only been felt locally without causing any major damage.

The Seismic Monitoring and Research Unit of the University of Malta registered two minor earthquakes off Malta’s west coast on November 4 and 28, less than 100km away. These are marked on the inset map in red stars.

If readers experience any earthquake-related shaking they are invited to fill the online questionnaire on http://seismic.research.um.edu.mt .
