The 2013 vintages of five Malta-grown wines are all about to be released within the coming days by Malta’s award-winning family winemaker, Emmanuel Delicata.

They are the Medina Rosé Grenache, Medina Chardonnay Girgentina, Medina Vermentino Zibibbo, Maltese Falcon Rosé Ġellewża and the long-awaited Medina Sangiovese.

Lovers of young wines who appreciate wines at their freshest and fruitiest should keep an eye out for these wines as they roll out of the Delicata winery this side of Christmas.

The two rosé wines, the dry Medina Grenache and the medium-dry Maltese Falcon Ġellewża, are just bursting with ripe strawberry-like aromas with zingy red fruit flavours on the palate. The white blend of Chardonnay and Girgentina is crisp and fruity, whereas the other white blend of Vermentino and Zibibbo is aromatic and spicy, two Medina wines that offer both quality and diversity.

People who are passionate about their white wine and seafood should try out the 2013 Medina Chardonnay Girgentina the next time they order fresh fish. And if you like ethnic dining, try out the 2013 Medina Vermentino Zibibbo, especially if you are eating Thai or Japanese food.

The only 2013 vintage red to be released is made from 100 per cent Malta-grown Sangiovese, the only one of its kind in Malta. This unique Medina red wine, which has been out of stock for some time, is soft, medium-bodied and slightly spicy; a great winter warmer.

These seven 2013 grape varieties come hot on the heels of the only 2013 vintage wine to be released by Delicata so far this year, the Medina Sauvignon Blanc, which was released six weeks ago. This is the result of a conscious effort by Delicata to get the very latest vintage out into the marketplace as quickly as possible following the harvest, and well in time for the Christmas festivities, affording wine enthusiasts the opportunity to try these wines when they are at their very best – nice and young and bursting with crisp ripe fruit.
