The Malta Football Association in conjunction with Sportradar has launched a pioneering educational programme which will tackle the issue of match-fixing in Maltese football.
The ‘Say No to Match-Fixing’ tour will be conducted by Sportradar and will educate players, referees, and club officials about all relevant issues surrounding modern day match-fixing.
The tour will get under way on January 6 and will involve players and officials from Premier League and Division One. Apart from the members of the senior team, meetings will also see the participation of the U-19, U-17 and U-15 squad from each club.
“We are aware of the threat match-fixing poses to the game of football and to this end we willing to do something about it,” MFA president Norman Darmanin Demajo told a news conference.
“With the assistance of Sportradar and Betaland, the MFA will embark on an ‘integrity tour’ that we believe will be the blueprint of future ‘Say No to Match-fixing’ campaigns designed to help safeguard our beloved game.”
UEFA Head of Discipline and Integrity Emilio Garcia also praised the initiative of the MFA and hoped other European associations would follow suit and introduce such initiatives.
