The Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, John Boehner, helped light the official Capitol Christmas tree in Washington on Tuesday, in an annual tree-lighting ceremony that was attended by other members of Congress.

The 2013 tree is an 88-foot Engelmann spruce from Colville National Forest in Washington state.

It was decorated with LED lights and 5,000 ornaments.

The first tree lighting ceremony at the Capitol became a tradition in 1964.
