The Malta Racing Club (MRC) were forced to postpone the 48th meeting of the season which was due to be held at the Marsa racetrack yester-day afternoon.

MRC officials took the decision to call off the day’s programme as the racetrack was not deemed to be in an ideal state to stage the ten races on schedule due to the heavy rain which fell on the islands over the past two days.

Yesterday’s programme was due to include the semi-finals of the Prix de Vincennes championship, open for the Premier Class trotters, and the Prix d’Enghien, for Gold class trotters.

This was the second meeting that was called off by the MRC last week as on Friday they were also forced to postpone racing due to a waterlogged race course.

The MRC Council have decided that Friday’s meeting will now be held this evening with the first race scheduled at 6.30pm.

The races which were programmed for yesterday were pencilled for next Sunday afternoon.

The first race will get under way at 1.30pm.
