Malta champion driver Noel Baldacchino will be representing the country at the Prix de Rencontres Internationales which will be staged at the Vincennes racetrack, in Paris, today.

This annual race, now in its fourth edition, is staged over a distance of 2,100 metres.

The Prix de Rencontres Internationales sees the participation of drivers from different countries with the horses involved aged between six to 10 years. The total prize money this year is €22,000.

When the draws were made earlier this week, Baldacchino got the no.2 position behind the autostart. He will be driving Puy de Sarcy.

France will be represented by Pierre Vercruysse. The 2013 World Drivers Championship winner was drawn to start from the no.4 slot and his horse this afternoon will be Prieure.

In Paris, Baldacchino will be accompanied by Matthew Brincat, chairman of the Malta Racing Club, and David Ellul who is the owner of Label Chouan, the best French trotter at the Marsa Racetrack last season.

All three will be present for a French Trotting Association ceremony this evening where awards will go to the best French trotters outside the country.

Dr Brincat will also be engaged in talks with other delegates attending the event.

Tomorrow, all delegations will be visiting the horse training centre at Grosbois before attending the Grand National du Trot final at the Vincennes racetrack.
