This year’s New Year’s Eve Valletta celebrations will include a 3D image mapping display, live performances and a new children’s area.

Addressing a press conference this afternoon, V18 Foundation chairman Jason Micallef said the graphic display is currently being pieced together by a group of 42 MCAST students and was inspired by the success of a similar display at last month’s Notte Bianca.

Live brass bands and a projected countdown will be held in St George's Square while de Vallette Square will be transformed into a children’s area. Stand up comedy performances from comic duo Gorg u Pawlu will be held at Teatru Rjal.

Unlike last year, performances will be held every hour to ensure more people get to enjoy the fun.

Large screen projections of the activities will also transform the city into a hub of celebration.

Mr Micallef said the event was an example of the collaboration needed for the success of the capital’ stint as European capital of culture.

The New Years Eve celebrations are being organised by the Valletta local council, the Tourism Ministry, V18 Foundation and G7 Promotions.

The celebrations will also be aired live on all main television station.
