The Consumers’ Association has called for a detailed investigation on the allegation made by Liquigas yesterday that it had evidence which showed illegal and unregulated filling of LPG cylinders at a third party site.
The allegation was a serious one and it was a fundamental principle that the health and safety of consumers came first and foremost.
The association said it expected the Malta Resources and the Competition and Consumer Affairs authorities to investigate if gas cylinders that were dangerous for consumers were being placed on the market and if there were unfair commercial practices.
This allegations, the association said, strengthened its belief that there is need for more law enforcement and the need that existing authorities were more proactive to ensure consumer rights.
