After winning a scholarship made available under the EU-Malta Financial protocol, Peresso went to Bruges, Belgium, to complete a Master’s in political science at the age of 23.
In the following six years she undertook a five-month internship at the European Commission, two jobs in Belgium and a job at the World Bank in Israel. In the process she learnt to speak eight languages.
Today, Peresso occupies a key post in the Cabinet of EU Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht, where she is in charge of relations with the European Parliament and the EU’s trade relationship with Latin America, the Caribbean, the Pacific and Africa.
