WasteServ’s Civic Amenity sites received roughly 800,000 plastic beverage bottles as part of the Collect and Win lottery campaign launched in August last year.
The campaign consists of a random lottery draw every three months, which the public can enter by depositing plastic beverage bottles at any Civic Amenity site.
During the first year, 52,000 tickets were issued, representative of 520,000 plastic bottles. To date roughly 80,000 tickets have been issued in total.
Five draws have taken place so far. Winners of the last round were Matthew Bugeja from Marsaskala, Carmel Portelli from Ibrag, Maryanne Debono from Birzebbugia, Abigail Raffaele from Birzebbugia and Liz Pisani from Santa Venera.
Prizes included a weekend break sponsored by the Downtown Hotel, Gozo, and vouchers of €100, €75 and €50 sponsored by Mdina Glass, Arkadia Group and The Point, respectively.
Civic Amenity sites are open Mondays to Sundays from 7.30am till 5.30pm. One ticket is given for every 10 bottles.
