I will not go into the merits of the weekend of free Gozo travel.

However, I am still fuming at the incredible incompetence of the officer responsible for organising the queue to the Ċirkewwa Ferry terminal, at least between 11am and 1pm on one of the days!

Firstly, single lane Triq Wied Musa was being used for the queue to the ferry.

Secondly and much worse, the road from Paradise Bay to the reverse osmosis plant was later choked with a two-lane queue. To add insult to injury the whole of the new road from the Red Tower to Ċirkewwa was deserted, when the lay-by on this road would have been the easiest solution.

Access to and from Paradise Bay was therefore summarily blocked for no reasonable explanation. This is unacceptable.

The officer in charge deserves to be at least demoted and he must be re-trained in both the use of common sense and doing the correct job.

Meanwhile I can only wonder what the situation might have been in the bottlenecks on the other side of the channel.

I have no doubt that the north of Malta and the whole of Gozo must have suffered heavy pollution from idling engine fumes.
