Designers Charles and Ron have made Maltese culture an important part of their design ethic, and their latest collection is no exception.

The autumn/winter 2014 collection was inspired by the Silent City of Mdina, its impressive palazzos and even more impressive doors and doorknockers.

What happened behind the doors of the Mdina palazzos was the starting point for Charles and Ron’s inspiration.

They were intrigued by the grand façades covered in beautiful bougainvillea flowers, the mystery of what happened behind closed doors and the notion that once you knock on them and you enter, you will become part of the history and the mystery of the Silent City.

The woman Charles and Ron envisioned for this collection is dark and mysterious and the colour palette used was that of deep red tones, grey and black.

The intricate, black, lace tops and dresses are contrasted with a silk georgette printed fabric.

Charles and Ron also used leather to give the elegant fabrics a modern edge.

To accompany this collection, the design duo is also launching a new range of handbags made exclusively in Malta from the finest Italian leather.

The CR collection of clothes and bags will be available at a pop-up shop at the Corinthia Hotel in Attard until December 31.
