Lufthansa Technik Malta has completed the extension of one of its hangars to increase flexibility in its operations by housing up to three long haul aircraft.

It said this would not only enable technical staff to work on three of these large aircraft simultaneously, but match the increasing demand for technical services on Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft at the facility and strengthen competitiveness.

The extended hangar will be inaugurated tomorrow.

“The strong support of the Maltese Government, together with a combined investment of €4.5m, paved the way for the extension of the hangar and our services. It shows both the commitment of the government to support the growth within the Aviation sector as represented by Lufthansa Technik and in turn, the commitment of our company to offer long term employment based on growth and sustainability. We are keeping our promise to develop a sustainable success story based on long term plans” said CEO, Stephan Drewes.

The company expects a record breaking workload for next year. The hangar’s capacity for the third large aircraft is already sold out to a large extent in the first quarter of next year.
