A new handbook for teachers, ‘Fostering Entrepreneurship Through Education’, was launched this morning by the parliamentary secretary for entrepreneurship and innovation, Edward Zammit Lewis.

The book was produced by St Nicholas College in collaboration with The Edward de Bono Institute for the Design and Development of Thinking.

It focuses on entrepreneurship education across the curriculum in line with the principles of the National Curriculum Framework.

Dr Zammit Lewis said such initiatives are very important to instil an entrepreneurship mind-set in children and youths.

He complained that upon finishing their tertiary education, many young people  had poor communication skills, very limited or no work experience and a limited idea of entrepreneurship.

"We have the thinking tools available, this initiative will help educators plant an entrepreneurship seed into our children, which will foster into innovative initiatives,” he said.
