• Before purchasing an extended guarantee, consumers should shop around and check if other sellers offer free commercial guarantees that are as beneficial.

• Consumers should try and negotiate commercial guarantees that provide adequate after-sales protection at no extra cost.

• Consumer law provides free legal protection that is valid for two years from the date of delivery of the product purchased.

• The terms and conditions of the extended guarantee should be carefully read and understood before the purchase is made.

• The terms and conditions of guarantees must be honoured or legal action may be taken against the guarantor.
