For the last four years, writer Clifford Vella has published a new book on an annual basis, with his publications focusing mostly on Gozo. Vella has now released his fourth book, titled Places of Interest in Gozo, which this time is wholly dedicated to the sister island.
In his introduction, Vella offers a brief description of Gozo through the ages, also mentioning the daily difficulties Gozitans working in Malta have to face.
In this book one finds details on each Gozitan village, with information on parish formation, traditions, historical places, museums and natural beauty spots.
Of special interest, the author focuses on L-Għajn ta’ San Rafflu in Kerċem, the underground mill in Munxar, the Annunciation niche in Għasri and several other locations. Traditional food and other activities, such as the Nadur Carnival, are also included.
This book comprises 120 pages, including several old, black and white images that will appeal to the nostalgic side of readers. The book is a must for students researching Gozo’s rich heritage, apart from being a useful guide for emigrants and tourists.
