The Labour Party has denied that Alfred Sant’s Government in 1997 had waived Lm250,000 the party owed the Government in rent for Australia Hall.

The claim was made by PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami during a recent news conference.

The Labour Party noted that a court case about the property against the Labour Party launched by former Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami had been withdrawn in March 2006.

This was the second case initiated by the Nationalists, it said.

It added that during his news conference, Dr Fenech Adami failed to say that the PL had also initiated court procedures against the Government to get its Marsa property back should the Pembroke property be taken away.

PL still thinks it is above the law - PN

In a reaction, the PN said Labour did not deny that the Muscat Government decision to drop the court case instituted by the Commissioner of Lands to take back the Australia Hall amounted to a €10m gift to the Labour Party.

Yet again, the Labour Party was using the Government as a took to take commercial advantage to the detriment of the people. It seemed Labour still believed it was above the law and could take what did not belong to it.
