MaltaPost will issue this year's Christmas stamp set on Monday.

It  consists of a miniature sheet bearing two stamps and a set of three stamps depicting three prominent scenes from the mechanical nativity crib found at the Jesus of Nazareth Institute in Żejtun.

The crib was inaugurated in 1947 and is the work of Paul Pavia. The Institute’s nuns sewed the robes for each figure.

Additions to the crib are made every year.

The stamps in the miniature sheet have face value of €1.00 each and the other three stamps have face value of €0.26, €0.37 and €0.63.

The stamp set was designed in-house by MaltaPost. The stamps will be issued in sheets of 10 and in a miniature sheet.

The measurements of the stamps are 20mm x 76 mm and 20mm x 38mm, while the measurements of the miniature sheets are 105mm x 68mm with perforation of 13.6 x 14.0 (comb.) bearing the Maltese Cross watermark. Printex Ltd will print 20,000 miniature sheets with face value of €2.00 each, 1,600,000 of the €0.26 stamp, 150,000 of the €0.37 stamps and 80,000 of the €0.63 stamp.
