A total of 155,715 people were in full-time employment in June, a 2.1 per cent increase from June 2012, figures released by the National Statistics Office show.
There was an increase of 3,247 in gainfully occupied jobs and a rise of 582 in the number of registered unemployed.
The education sector registered the highest year-on-year increase in full-time employment by adding 947 jobs. On the other hand, the construction industry had 516 fewer.
Full-time employment within the private sector rose by two per cent while public sector employment went up by 2.6 per cent.
Registered part-time employment also went up by 3.6 per cent, or 2,000 jobs, when compared to last year’s levels.
