Video interviews of youths talking about their careers, talents, social life and fashion are being featured on The Zone at www.timesofmalta.com/thezone. Tomorrow, new interviews will feature professional models Amy and Daniela and fashion photographer Kurt Paris, whose photo shoot is setting the scene for the first-ever Pink Fashion Show, a Times of Malta event, on Wednesday.

The Zone had the exclusive invitation from Pink magazine to attend the making of its November fashion photo shoot and speak to a few of the people responsible for the wonderful images that adorn Malta’s leading women’s monthly.

What opportunities does modelling open up for young professionals like Amy and Daniela? And what is it like to be a professional model in Malta? Fashion photography allows for more personal expression of ideas and visions, but it is just as competitive a market as any other commercial photography.

Paris, a software developer by profession, sometimes spends up to 40 hours a week just doing what he loves the most – photography. He loves working on fashion shoots because the settings are always diverse. Dealing with loads of people is a great learning curve but there is always the challenge of how to make a name in a highly competitive environment.
