Third-year undergraduate students of the University School of Performing Arts programme in Dance Studies this week embark on a tour of performances in Malta and Italy.

The tour forms an important part of the programme to give the students experience both in the practical and performance and theoretical aspects of Dance.

The tour enables the students to engage with contemporary dance makers and new choreographers in performances that use a variety of spaces and models ranging from traditional theatre venues to informal spaces for lecture demonstrations.

This year the choreographies include contemporary dance works by Francesca Tranter and former graduate Valentina Azzopardi from Malta, Sara Accettura from Italy, Nico Monaco from Holland and Mavin Khoo from the UK. Lighting design is by Moritz Zavan.

The performances take place as follows:

On Saturday and next Sunday at 8pm at the MITP theatre in St Christopher Street, Valletta. Admission is €5.

On November 22 at 11am, the students will give an informal performance and take part in a question and answer session at the Sports Complex in Victoria. Admission is free.

On November 27 at 7pm and 9pm at the Auditorio La Vallisa in Bari, Italy. Admission is €10.

On December 7 at 8pm at St Aloysius’ College, Birkirkara. Admission is €8.
