Uefa delegates have approved the Luxol Sports Club and facilities, praising its energy-saving LED lighting system.

Lighting consultant Pieter Bregman said: “Clubs can save approximately €6,000 to €7,000 per year if the system is switched on and off. If the system is used dynamically, savings on electricity bills can go up to €11,000 per year.”

This figure is based on 16 to 18 lights in a stadium, where currently 20 to 24 standard metal halide flood lights are placed.

The AAA LUX system was supplied by LedExpert in The Netherlands.

Luxol ground manager Mario De Battista said the cost of energy during a game at Luxol is approximately 60 per cent lower than at any other stadium.

With its own secured Wi-Fi system, AAA LUX can also be controlled by smartphone or tablet.
