Arriva’s winter schedule was introduced as planned today.

The company said when contacted that the recent concerns raised by the General Workers’ Union on the matter have been resolved.

An outline agreement was reached and a formal agreement was expected to be signed in the coming days.

Arriva said last Friday it was losing €400,000 a week and claimed that demands by the GWU were unrealistic and harmful to the business and the drivers’ job security. It later said both sides had agreed to postpone the introduction of the schedule to Tuesday.

Pre-Paid one-day tickets

In a statement issued today, Arriva said it launched prepaid one-day tickets to replace the previous carnet paper tickets.

The new system allows the purchase of multiple bus tickets which can be used one at a time. The special offer 10+1 package offers one day of free travel when 10 day tickets are purchased. The one-day tickets are only available on residents adult saver cards.
