• A blood donation session will be held at the Gozo General Hospital today between 8am and 1pm.

• A ceremony will take place today to mark the 65th anniversary of one of Malta’s worst sea tragedies in which 23 people drowned on October 30, 1948, while trying to cross to Gozo. Mass will be said at 9.30am aboard a Gozo Channel ferry at the site of the tragedy. As a sign of respect, relatives of some of the victims, as well as Gozo Minister Anton Refalo, will cast flowers into the sea at the spot where the tragedy occurred.

• Iron Man 3 will be screened at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30pm.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be said today at 6.15, 8.30, 10 and 11.15am and 5pm, followed by the recital of the rosary and Eucharistic benediction.

• An all-female art exhibition Awareness Through Art is being held until next Sunday at the Cittadella Centre for Culture and the Arts. Some of Malta’s top artists are displaying their works of art.

• There will be a prize-giving ceremony today at 7pm at the Gozo Live book fair taking place at the exhibition hall in St Francis Square, Victoria.

Mayor Samuel Azzopardi will distribute the prizes. All students who entered the competition, their families and friends as well as the public are invited to attend.

• The Ladies’ Circle of the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary is holding its monthly coffee morning on Thursday in the hall of the Catholic Action Centre, Victoria.

Tickets at €3 may be obtained from members and the school.

• The Dun Mikiel Attard Group will hold a prayer meeting at the Sacred Heart Seminary chapel, Victoria, on Thursday at 7pm.

• The Network of Insular Chambers of Commerce of the European Union (INSULEUR) will hold its 13th annual forum at the Grand Hotel, Għajn­sielem, on Friday. This year’s event is organised jointly with the Gozo Business Chamber. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat will deliver the closing speech.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group will organise a prayer meeting at the MAS headquarters in Victoria on Saturday at 7pm.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Savina church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8pm, followed by Mass at midnight.

• Drawings of the Citadel by Richard England are being displayed at an exhibition called Cittadella at Art e gallery of Victoria from today to Thursday from 9.30am to 12.15pm or by appointment on 9980 4774.

• Dun Ġorġ – Il-Musical is a new, original production to be staged at the Don Bosco Oratory Theatre, Victoria, on Saturday and November 16 at 7.30pm and on November 17 at 2pm. Booking is open at the Don Bosco Oratory or by calling the ticket hotline on 2155 6616 or 9948 7751.

• As part of the 12th edition of Festival Mediterranea, Mark Sagona will conduct a lecture entitled Mattia Preti and His Influence on Maltese Painting on Saturday.

The lecture will be held at various sites in Gozo from 9am to 1pm, starting at St Augustine church, Victoria.

• A concert by La Stella Brass Ensemble and Soloists takes place at Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia hall at St George’s Basilica, Victoria, on Saturday at 8pm, as part of Festival Mediterranea. Attendance is free.

• The Friends of the Sick and Elderly (Gozo) will hold a charity sale at the football ground near the main car park in Victoria next Sunday from 8am to 1pm. The price is €10 for each car space, payable on the day.

• Next Sunday, a morning of recollection for men is being held in Għarb parish hall from 9 to 11.30am (including Mass). There will also be an opportunity to visit the parish museum.

• A blood donation session will be held at Dar San Pietru u San Pawl, next to Mnarja Band Club, next Sunday from 8.30am to 1pm.
