Scotland shooter Jennifer McIntosh is aiming for more Commonwealth Games gold glory after missing her Olympic target last year.

The 22-year-old from Falkirk was included alongside seven other shooters as well as triathlete David McNamee as Team Scotland named the latest additions to its squad for Glasgow 2014.

The small bore rifle specialist claimed two golds and a bronze at the Delhi Commonwealths three years ago but suffered disappointment at London 2012 when she slumped to 42nd in the 10-metre air rifle event.

McIntosh admits she does not share the same joyous memories of the home Games enjoyed by many of her Team GB colleagues but hopes to make amends next summer.

She said: “There is a different feeling heading into these Games because they are being held in Scotland. It’s a lot closer to my heart. The Olympics are great but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Commonwealths.

“My Olympic experience probably wasn’t the same as everyone else’s in London. Most people had a fantastic time with a lot of fond memories. But for me, it wasn’t that great.

“I didn’t shoot that well. I feel I performed well but the result wasn’t good. There was a lack of experience there on my part. It was less than perfect.

“But I’m really glad that the focus has switched from looking back to London to looking ahead to Glasgow. I guess it’s a chance to redeem myself.”
