Malta chalked up their first win in the international tournament after defeating Sette Scogli, a Sicilian team playing in the Italian Serie B.

The Maltese again put up a satisfactory performance against the Italians and despite some slack play in the latter stages, following a spate of substitutions which brought in the tailenders, scored a comfortable 14-7 victory. This should help them raise their spirits further in view of harder tussles ahead.

With four-goal Matthew Zammit back in scoring mood followed by Jordan Camilleri with three, Karl Izzo’s team never relinquished their grip on the proceedings to end up clear winners.

The Sicilians had the Sliema player Christian Cluett in their squad and the youngster managed to put his name on the scoresheet.

For Malta, Timmy Agius netted on his debut whilst goalkeeper Ryan Sciortino was introduced in goal.
