The House Privileges Committee this afternoon agreed on the procedure to be followed in the Privilege complaint raised by the Prime Minister against Opposition leader Simon Busuttil.

The committee agreed that Dr Muscat would be the first witness and would present his case and present witnesses as required.

He will be followed by Dr Busuttil.

Other witnesses may be presented at the request of the Speaker, who chairs the committee.

The Speaker, Anglu Farrugia, said the committee itself would not take any decisions. It may opt to close the case, agree on a compromise, recommend that the House admonishes Dr Busuttil or recommend to the House that the case be referred to the courts.

Dr Muscat had objected to comments by Dr Busuttil about political interference in the police handling of the John Dalli case. Dr Busuttil had refused to withdraw his claims.
