This year, Casa Antonia is celebrating its 10th anniversary since the opening of its nursing and residential home in Balzan. Offering long-term care, short-stay convalescence, and respite care, the residence is spread over a large area of tastefully decorated spaces in classic design and surrounded by lavish gardens. This comfortable accommodation can be enjoyed in single rooms, sharing, or apartments.
As part of its celebrations, Casa Antonia launched a photographic competition which attracted over 120 submissions. The participants were invited to capture pictures of elderly persons on the theme, the elderly – positive ageing. The best 13 entries will feature on Casa Antonia’s 2014 annual calendar, out soon.
Last June, the celebration was marked by a visit from the Auxiliary Bishop and Vicar General Mgr Charles J. Scicluna, who concelebrated Holy Mass in the home’s chapel for the residents.
The anniversary celebrations included two semi-classical concerts held at Casa Antonia’s gardens. The performances featured the renowned British-born mezzo-soprano Sophia Grech accompanied by pianist Joanne Camilleri and leading singers Renato, La Barokka and Eleanor Cassar.
