• The Croods will be screened at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30pm.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be said today at 6.15, 8.30, 10 and 11.15am and 5pm, followed by the recital of the rosary and Eucharistic benediction.

• The Friends of the Sick and Elderly (Gozo) will hold a charity sale at the football ground near the main car park in Victoria today from 8am to 1pm. The price is €10 for each car space, payable on the day.

• The 12th edition of Festival Mediterreanea, which will run until November 16, includes the following events this week: Music in Liturgy, a sung High Mass with the participation of the Laudate Pueri Choir, will be held at St George’s Basilica, Victoria, today at 11am. A public lecture by Victor Mallia-Milanes, entitled Venice, Hospitaller Malta, and Fear of the Plague: Culturally Conflicting Views, takes place at Il-Ħaġar/Heart of Gozo Museum, St George’s Square, Victoria, on Saturday at 9.30am. Attendance is free.

• On the occasion of Jum Għawdex (Gozo Day) a commemorative event takes place at Independence Square, Victoria, today at 7pm. The ceremony marks the 215th anniversary of the 1798 uprising against the French by the Gozitans, led by archpriest Saver Cassar. The programme, coordinated by the National and Regional Celebrations Committee, includes a symphonic concert by the Victory Band of Xagħra and St Margaret Band of Sannat.

• A joint concert, Contrasts, by 80 musicians from the Gozo Youth Orchestra and the Eurode Jugendorchester Herzogenrath of Germany, will be held today at 5pm at the MBC Theatre, Mnarja Band Club, Nadur. The concert will be directed by Joseph Grech and Martin Eibach, musical directors of the Gozitan and German orchestras respectively. Entrance is free. On Tuesday, the joint ensemble will present a concert for children called Introduction to the Orchestra.

• Il-Kunjata ta’ Pupull will be staged at the Xagħra Youth Circle, today at 6.30pm. For booking, call Josephine Sultana or Domitilla Grima on 9982 6367 or 2156 4652.

• Dun Ġorġ – Il-Musical is a new original production to be staged at the Don Bosco Oratory Theatre, Victoria, on November 9 and 16 at 7.30pm and on November 17 at 2pm. Booking is open at the Don Bosco Oratory or call the ticket hotline on 2155 6616 or 9948 7751.

• Gozo Live is hosting a book fair at the exhibition hall in St Francis Square, Victoria, to showcase the works of writers living and working in Malta and Gozo, among others.

The fair opens from Thursday to next Sunday at 9am and includes different performances each day at 10am and 7pm. Admittance is free. Books may be bought and authors will be available for signings.

• The Gozitan Graduates Movement will hold First Friday Mass at St Augustine church, Victoria, at 8pm. Fr Joseph Mercieca will deliver a homily about the Pope’s encyclical Lumen Fidei . The sacrament of reconciliation will be available.

• Wirt Għawdex will hold a lecture by Michael Refalo entitled Ascent and Descent: Nobility Versus the Others in the Late 19th Century on Friday at 6.30pm at St Cecilia chapel, Għajnsielem. • The Catholic Action Movement is organising spirituality sessions for both men and women. Membership is not necessary. Women are invited to Sannat parish church on Wednesday from 9 to 11am for a session led by parish priest Ignatius Borg. The programme includes Mass. Men are invited to Għarb parish hall on November 10. Mass will be said at 9am, and after a coffeee break, archpriest Joseph Sultana will give a talk. The programme continues with a eucharistic exposition, morning psalms and sacramental blessing. A special invitation is being extended to Confraternity members upon a suggestion of Gozo Bishop Mario Grech.

Arrangements have been made for the recently inaugurated parish museum Ecclesia Mater to be open for half an hour at 8.30am and for a further 30 minutes after the conclu­sion at 11.30am.

• The next Gozo Richmond Foundation Self-Help Group meeting will be held on November 5 from 5.30 to 7pm at the NGO Centre, l/o Xewkija. The guest speaker is psychologist Fr George Borg, who will speak about positive thinking. A dinner will be held afterwards. • The Ladies’ Circle of the Sacred Heart Minor Seminary is organising its monthly coffee morning on November 7, in the hall of the Catholic Action Centre, Victoria. Tickets at €3 may be obtained from members and the school.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at the Good Shepherd church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8.30pm, followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group will organise a prayer meeting at the MAS headquarters in Victoria on Saturday at 7pm.

• A blood donation session will be held at Dar San Pietru u San Pawl, next to Mnarja Band Club, on November 10 from 8.30am to 1pm.
