Tension takes on a new twist as Malta’s king of horror, Anton Grasso, releases his latest book, Ġenn fl-Aqwa Tiegħu (Total Madness). The book, which is published by Horizons, is a collection of 28 new novels, marking the 27th volume of stories from the prolific author.

Ġenn fl-Aqwa Tiegħu presents a collection that deals with the supernatural and the macabre in the typical Grasso style readers have become familiar with – with the addition of some new ingredients for what the author states may be his final work.

Grasso was born in Paola in 1952; he started writing at an early age and published his first book Iljieli bla Qamar (Moonless Nights) at the age of 22.

The book, considered as the first modern collection of horror stories in Maltese, was recently reprinted.

Grasso’s books include novels, translations of novels and short stories, essays, poetry and studies about the supernatural.

His autobiography was adapted into a very successful television production, Enigma; most of the author’s books have been sold out, many of them reprinted and a large number remain out of print.

Grasso’s name is also tied to Radio Malta, where he presented a show, Horror Stories, which remained popular for over two decades; the author later joined the national television station as a programme director, a career that lasted until 2004.

Ġenn fl-Aqwa Tiegħu is available from stationeries and bookstores, or by sending an e-mail to grassowahx@gmail.com.
