Valletta 9
Dauphins 10
(2-2, 2-3, 3-3, 2-2)
After heavy defeats in the first part of the LEN Euro Cup some weeks ago, it was a relief to see Valletta WPC, representing Malta, hold their own against French side Dauphins SC yesterday.
Still, the French side managed to prevail against the resolute Maltese who twice went close to equalising in the last session.
The teams shared four goals in a tight opening quarter.
The visitors went 5-4 ahead on the stroke of time in the second quarter.
In the third session six goals were shared for an 8-7 scoreline for the French.
In an eventful last session, Dauphins went 9-7 ahead and with the score on 10-9, Karl Izzo’s team missed a penalty and a great chance at the death to score what would have been a deserved equaliser.
