Gianluca Farrugia, a research support officer at the University of Malta, recently completed his PhD studies at the University’s Department of Physiology and Biochemistry under the tutorship of Prof. Rena Balzan.

His project, funded partly by the Malta Government Scholarship Scheme and partly by the University, was a focused study of aspirin-induced apoptosis and its association with mitochondrial generation of superoxide radicals in yeast cells.
