People today live in the fast lane and have little time to buy groceries after work, cook and yet manage to spend quality time with family. But a new online service aims to make life a little bit easier.

The site www.timetoeat.com.mt offers a quick and easy overview of the restaurants offering takeaway in specific areas. Users can access the site via computer, tablet or phone, check out restaurants’ menu cards and order the food by either paying online or by cash on picking up the food at the chosen restaurant. Most restaurants, however, offer to deliver the food directly to their doorstep.

The concept of Time to Eat began in December 2012, when three hungry boys attempted to order a takeaway and found that the only option was to call a restaurant.

They had a number of unfortunate episodes mainly due to language barriers and to restaurants requiring a Maltese landline. This resulted in the trio giving up on ordering food through the phone, and instead they began searching for online restaurants with delivery options.

They were not very lucky either here and so they began developing Time to Eat, which takes care of the communication between the customer and the restaurant. Time to Eat eventually aims to start its own delivery service.
