The National Book Council (NBC) will be holding a revamped edition of the book fair under the new title National Book Festival. As in previous years, during this event, publishers, authors and bookshops will showcase both their new and their old publications.

New participants to join this year’s event include NGOs like Organisation for Maltese Language, Poets’ Society of Malta, Friends of the National Archives, the Institute of Maltese Journalists and others. The French Embassy will also be taking part for the first time.

During the festival, different activities will be organised by publishers, authors, artists and the council itself. This year the NBC will also be launching a literary journal in order to promote emerging and yet-unpublished authors. During weekday mornings, a programme of events aimed at schoolchildren will be held by the Education Department and other entities such as the Centre for Literacy of the University of Malta. The weekend will be jam-packed with activities aimed at people of all ages.

The National Book Festival will be held between November 13 and 17 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta.
