Antonia Darder, a leading international critical pedagogy and community action exponent, is the speaker at the first session of this year’s Work in Progress seminar series.

Darder will present a paper entitled Critical Leadership and Community Empowerment – A Freirean Approach, in which she will examine Freire’s contribution to the historical struggle of disenfranchised populations in the US. From this standpoint, she will identify a set of indispensable qualities of leadership for community empowerment that focus on ethics of both political and personal practice.

The session takes place tomorrow at 6pm in Room D, Faculty for the Built Environment, Msida campus.
