A successful initiative in the UK has been replicated in Malta by former High Commissioner Joseph Zammit Tabona.
He set up the Malta Business Network Ltd in London in 2011, to promote business and professional opportunities involving Malta, as well as to promote the exchange of information between members of the business and professional communities in Malta and the UK. The MBN attracted a diverse range of industries and sectors, with members meeting once a month on the last Tuesday of the month.
Once his UK posting came to an end, its success prompted him to set up the Malta Business Network (Malta) Ltd, which was set up as a limited liability company. MBN Malta is governed by a board comprising Mr Zammit Tabona as chairman, David Tonna, Luke Frendo, Simon Galea, Christopher Jackson and Charles Gerada.
Sub-groups have been set up to focus on particular economic activities like property and construction, shipping, financial services, hospitality, media, film, aviation, technology, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, although others are in the pipeline.
The network organises a range of activities, ranging from talks by top speakers to social events.
Membership is open to individuals and corporates for €100 and €300 respectively per year.
