This Sunday, Mellieħa Athletic Club are organising the Garmin Malta run, a road race over the classic 10km distance.

The organisers have moved the start and finish line to the area in front of the newly-opened National Aquarium (near Fra Ben).

The race, starting at 9 am, is the result of collaboration between Mellieħa AC and Medcomms Limited, sole agents for Garmin.

“As sole agents of Garmin sports watches, it is a very rewarding experience for us to partner Mellieħa AC in this race which has now become a fixture in the local athletics calendar,” Mark Gag-lione, one of the directors at Medcomms, said.

Financial prizes to the top three male and female athletes will be sponsored by Medcomms.

To promote inclusivity in sports, the sponsors will also be handing out six Garmin Forerunner 10 watches to other top finishers.

Application forms may be downloaded from the Mellieħa AC website, www.melliehaac.info.

Athletes can also apply at Medcomms Limited shop in Gżira until Saturday and, alternatively, applications will be accepted by the race director up to one hour before the start.

Mellieħa AC are also organising a 5km walk on the same route and a 1km fun run for kids.

All finishers will be awarded a commemorative token.
