The National Aquarium has suffered the death of an Electric Ray, one of its first exhibits.

Mike Hutchison, curator, was quoted as saying on the aquarium's facebook page that she had given birth to a baby electric ray, and this could have been the cause of death.

"The ray has a few sores but these will be attended to and hopefully the little ray will pull through".

The species is Torpedo marmorata, known as 'Haddiela Komuni' in Maltese.
