The Seismic Monitoring and Research Unit of the University of Malta set up a stand during the Science in the City festival held on September 27.

The stand proved to be a popular attraction with passers-by as hundreds of people stopped to watch various animated seismic maps, 3D propagation of seismic waves, as well as to generate their own ‘mini-earthquake’ by jumping on the ground a few metres away from a seismometer.

The stand was set up with the help of students and ex-students of the Physics Department, Alexander Vella, Daniela Farrugia and Brandon Scicluna.
