Q: I have registered my daughter at a particular school and paid a registration fee that amounts to €75. Now I have decided not to send her to this school and asked the school to refund me the fee. I was informed that registration fees are not refunded by the school.

I would like to know what my legal rights are before I simply accept this reply.

A: Unless when you paid the school’s registration fee, you agreed with the school’s administration that you can claim it back in case you change your mind, then legally you are not entitled to a refund. The law would entitle you to such a refund if the school did not keep its end of the agreement.
