Heritage Malta will once again be setting sail during the annual Birgufest, on an initiative that showcases Malta’s cultural heritage and its beautiful seascape.

The Fortifications Harbour Tour will include a guided tour of the Harbour area by boat, taking those present into the various creeks around Grand Harbour and Marsamxett, such as French Creek, Marsa Creek and Lazaretto.

The tour, which will set sail from the marina opposite Fort St Angelo’s entrance at 10am and will last for approximately two hours, will focus on the fortifications built during the era of the Knights of St John and later modified by the British, explaining their history and importance for the islands’ defence and economy during the Great Siege and the two World Wars.

Tickets, available on a first-come, first-served basis, can be purchased from all Heritage Malta sites and museums.

The tour will be taking place on Saturday. For more information, call on 2395 4242, visit Heritage Malta’s official website or follow the event on Facebook.
