Today’s Red Arrows heart in the sky had a special meaning for aviation enthusiast and timesofmalta.com cameraman Paul Spiteri Lucas and his girlfriend Emanda Farrugia.

As a heart was formed in the sky by the aerobatic jets, a commentator was heard announcing to spectators at the 21st edition of the airX Malta International Airshow that the symbol was being dedicated to Mr Spiteri Lucas.

At that moment, Mr Spiteri Lucas went on his knees and asked Ms Farrugia to marry him.

Her answer was yes.

Attractions at this year's airshop included the Italian Pioneer Team, Typhoon and Tornado jets. A pair of the RAF’s Tucano aircraft sported the livery used by Spitfires when they were stationed in Malta in 1943.
