Hibernians cruised to their sixth successive victory when they cruised past Qormi 4-1 at the National Stadium.

The Paolites were in control right from the word ‘go’ and they took the lead inside the first minute. Jackson Lima delivered a cross towards Luis Edison ‘Tarabai’ whose header came off the upright and from the rebound Andrew Cohen bundled the ball home.

Hibs doubled their lead three minutes later. Lima was again the provider when he picked Clayton Failla on the edge of the area and the speedy winger unleashed a powerful low shot that gave no chance to Matthew Farrugia, the Qormi goalkeeper.

The woodwork denied Hibs a third goal on 26 minutes when from a Lima free-kick, Jonathan Pearson anticipated his marker but his firm header came off the bar.

But that was just a temporary reprieve as Hibs struck again a minute later. Bjorn Kristensen picked Cohen on the left channel and the Hibs striker quickly sent a teasing cross towards Tarabai who wrong-footed Farrugia with a firm header.

Hibs made it 4-0 on 67 minutes when Cohen’s short corner found Failla who quickly directed the ball into the path of Rodolfo Soares who headed past Farrugia.

Hibs finished the match with ten men when substitute Jean Paul Farrugia was dismissed for dissent.

Qormi finally pulled a goal back on 85 minutes when Jorginho beat Muscat with a low drive.
