Some Enemalta employee personal files which were missing were located by the corporation today following a report on the matter in Times of Malta.

Times of Malta today reported that the Corporation asked the police to investigate a missing employee file that belonged to its former finance chief Pippo Pandolfino. The newspaper said that the discovery that the file was missing was prompted by questions it sent to Enemalta about Mr Pandolfino’s contract of service.

In a statement this evening the corporation said that on Thursday it realised that some employee personal files, including those of former officials mentioned in the National Audit Office report on Enemalta’s oil procurement between 2008 and 2011, were unaccounted for.

Such files, particularly those of people in top management positions, were normally held in a specific archive at the Marsa Power Station administration building. Current and former officials who could have been responsible for such files were contacted, but no one was in a position to locate the missing folders so the corporation asked the police to look into the matter.

Following the report in Times of Malta, some of the missing files were located in an archive in a different building, where such documents were not normally stored, Enemalta said.

It said the files were allegedly moved from their original archive at the end of February.

While police investigations were still underway, the Corporation also launched an internal investigation to ensure that similar administrative shortcomings were not repeated.

The corporation said it was committed to ensure that its procedures were continually improved and that any shortcomings were swiftly rectified for a better quality service in the best interest of customers and the public.
