The Land Department has handed over premises to the Malta BMX Association to house the island’s first indoor skate park.

The large warehouse complex, in Pembroke, will be split between a BMX area and a smoother surfaced skate park.

The warehouse was previously being used to house decommissioned school buses.

Association President John Zammit said the new facility would revolutionise local BMX, skating and rollerblading.

“For years riders have had to put their passion on hold due to bad weather or poor conditions of the outdoor facility, this will change everything,” he said.

The facility is currently being constructed and is expected to be finalised early next year.
