Last week, members of the Malta Waterpolo Referees Association (MWRA) attended an important technical convention in Rome.

Accompanying the MWRA contingent were Joe Caruana Curran and Alan Bonello, the president and vice-president of the Aquatic Sports Asso-ciation respectively.

During the three-day seminar, the Maltese referees had the opportunity to discuss the interpretation and implementation of the new rules with particular importance given to free movement of the attacking players.

The main speakers at the seminar were Gianni Lonzi, chairman of the LEN technical waterpolo committee, and Roberto Petronilli, the presi-dent of the Italian Waterpolo Referees Association.

Meanwhile, Maltese referee Massimo Angilleri is travelling to Serbia this week after being selected in the the pool of officials for a Champions League preliminary round tournament.

The participating clubs are Volgograd (Russia) Orade (Roma-nia), Budva (Montenegro), Montpellier (France), Hannover (Germany) and hosts Kragujevac.
