The media were not invited to a meeting PN leader Simon Busuttil had with China’s Ambassador in Malta and it was only reported on the PN’s station, the Labour Party said.

It said in a statement the PL said Dr Busuttil did not feel comfortable meeting the ambassador and repeating to his face what he had publicly said against China and the agreement reached between Malta and a Chinese company a few days ago.

The PN station, the PL said, reported Dr Busuttil saying that he reserved his judgement on the agreement to when this was concluded.

Dr Busuttil felt embarrassed telling the ambassador about his negative position because he knew he was isolated.

While the Labour government had a plan, Dr Busuttil and the PN were shocked and lost in negativity and personal attacks and could not keep up with the government.

PN REACTION

In a reaction, the PN said it had been consistent in its opposition to the privatisation of Enemalta.

It had invited the Chinese ambassador to the meeting to explain its position because it had nothing to be ashamed of, the PN said.

As was normal practice for such events, it had informed its media about the meeting, the PN added.

It said it was not the party which hid the agreement with China before the election and hid the deal from Enemalta workers. It was Joseph Muscat who should be ashamed , in the same way as he should be ashamed for the way how the government had employed a minister's wife, the PN said.
